Dance Platform at

Guildford High School

Every Tuesday and Wednesday we have the pleasure of teaching students of Guildford High School RAD Ballet. Students in Reception up to Year 6 learn the technique and artistry of Classical Ballet whilst developing co-ordination and confidence, all in a fun and friendly environment.

Students work towards examinations that take place throughout the year. Alongside the opportunity to join all Dance Platform workshops and performances.

Our Ethos

DPA is committed to provide the best dance education for every student to achieve their best, whether they are dancing as a hobby or pursuing a performing career.

Our goal is to build students confidence, nurture their self-esteem and self-discipline, by teaching through kindness and compassion.

Teachers will create a safe and trusting environment where students love of dance and performing can grow. They will adapt their teaching methods to the individual, giving students learning tools which can be used in and out of the studio.

Dance is where artistry and athleticism meet, and this theme carries through all classes taught at DPA. Developing students strength, co-ordination and musicality.

Students receive the type of training that turns them not just into successful dancers, but accomplished human beings, prepared to achieve whatever they set their minds to.

Performing and Examinations

At Dance Platform Academy we value the importance of performing, whether this is at the end of term in class to parents, in and around the community or in our annual shows.

Dance is a performing art and it benefits students in both audition and exam settings.

Shows are a fun way to teach students responsibility, time management and commitment. They can help children get used to being in front of an audience - whether it's to dance, act or speak publicly.

Younger students get inspired by watching and working alongside senior students, and as teachers we get to watch a students confidence grow show to show. Its amazing!

We run exams for Ballet, Tap, Modern and Acro, usually running at least one session a term. Exams are always optional for students and we find that all those who join the preparation for an exam benefit.

It is extremely rewarding for students to see their hard work pay off. Coming out of an exam knowing they’ve tried their hardest, receiving their certificates and progressing to the next class.

FAQ's

Does my child need previous dance experience?

At Dance Platform we have a class for everyone, Beginner classes are available regardless of child's age. Please whatsapp us or email us to discuss the best fit and book a trial!

What should we bring to class?

Your first class can be done in any clothes suitable for movement (leggings / T-Shirt etc). For Ballet & Tap classes we can sometimes provide shoes to borrow (please let us know your shoe size beforehand).

We recommend everyone brings water, and warmer clothes for before and after class.

How many students are in each class?

The maximum number of students is based on the age, style and location of class..

Can I watch my child’s class?

Parents & guardians are welcome to watch trial classes and to support a child feel comfortable in a new class. We invite family to see students progress at the end of every term, alongside our annual show / showcases.

How do I find out how my child is progressing without interrupting the class?

Progress calls can be booked with Jessica and an additional teacher at any time during the term. These free calls last 15 - 30 minutes and are a great opportunity to discuss new goals, current progress or any issues a student wants to overcome in a safe and confidential environment. Teachers are able to give parents, guardians and their respective dancers 100% attention and we have found them invaluable. Book yours today!
